Aebersold, Rudolf, Prof.

Research in the group of Prof. Aebersold is focused on the development and the application of mass spectrometry (MS) based methods. Recent advances from the group include the development chemical reagents termed Isotope Coded Affinity Tags (ICAT) for quantitative mass spectrometry, the development of a suite of software tools for the computational analysis of proteomics data, a biochemical/computational basis for the discovery of serum protein biomarkers and a quantitative MS based approach to the analysis of protein complexes.

Project opportunities for PhD students include:
The development of new technologies for high throughput quantitative proteome analysis.
The discovery of protein biomarkers for cancer, metabolic disease syndrome and other conditions.
The analysis of protein interaction networks and their dynamic response to external perturbations.

All the projects in our group are interdisciplinary efforts in which biologists, analytical chemists and computer scientists collaborate to achieve common goals.
